The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. - Charles Darwin
To mark the three year anniversary of my sobriety I visited the most harmonious place on earth. The following is from my journal, waking in the Galápagos. Natural pastel colours engulf me, the grey of the sky & ocean meet, only broken by the shades of green that rise from earthy tones. The landscape dampened by the mist that lingers. Peace. My hearing is heightened due to the stillness that is present. A small splash, wave breaks & echoes across the ocean from my left. Vibrations. The mist still lingers, now lightly against my skin, moving in a breeze that gently caresses my face, not cold, not warm. There is a freshness to the air, ocean salt. Present. All of nature working & living in harmony, speaking on behalf of the universe. If only I had a greater understanding. Patience. The Galapagos is indeed a spiritual place, as close to a pure existence as I have ever been.
